For my first card using the Pretty Presents set from Hunkydory Crafts Stylish Season luxury card kit, I made a 5 x 7 inch card with the large die-cut of the tree and gifts as my focal and the purple card insert sheet of paper for the main paper design element.
The contents of this set includes: one sheet of die cuts with 8 die cuts, two of them border strips; two sheets of 350 gsm “Adorable Scorable” and two lighter paper inserts with sentiments printed on the sheets.
- Light purple cardstock for the card base, 7 x 10 inches
- Large foiled tree and gift die cut
- Light purple card insert sheet
- Green suede paper from my stash
- Hot Off the Press Thin Gold Line Dazzles
- Hot Off the Press Christmas Cheer stamp set
- Metallic gold inkpad
- Scrap of dark purple cardstock approximately 3 x 4 inches
- Gold star holographic paper
I scored the light purple cardstock 5 inches from the long side of the card stock (10 inch side) and folded the card in half. I trimmed about ½ inch off the bottom of the font of the card. I cut a 7 inch rectangle from the light purple card insert sheet, reserving the section that has the Christmas tree for another card. I cut the 7 inch rectangle into three pieces: a 3 ¼ inch strip with the border; one strip about 1 ¼ inch strip with the sentiment; leaving about a 3 inch strip. I matted the die-cut on green suede paper.
For the card front, I used the top portion of the purple paper and glued it to the top of the front of the card. I cut a 1 ½ x 7 inch strip of green suede paper and glued it to the bottom of the front of the card below the purple paper. I used a thin gold Dazzle border sticker to cover the line between the two papers. I glued the large die-cut to the front of the card.
On the inside of the card, I glued the border strip paper to the bottom of the card and cut a 1 ½ x 7 inch strip of the green suede paper and glued it just above the purple border strip. I applied another thin gold line Dazzle border sticker to cover the line between the two papers, like I did on the front of the card.
For the sentiment, I used a stamp from the Christmas Cheer stamp set, “The Magic of Christmas never ends its greatest gifts are family & friends.” I used metallic gold ink and stamped on dark purple paper. I matted the purple stamped sentiment on gold star holographic paper and glued it to the inside of the card.
Result: I used one die-cut and about 2/3 of one sheet of paper. On to the next card!
